Just email me the quote: insurance sales answers

Objection guide: Insurance. Updated .

The short answer

Do not email a number you built without asking questions. Say a quote without the details is a guess. Then ask what the current policy covers, find one real gap or a high deductible, and offer a ten minute side by side. If the buyer still wants an email, send it with a time to talk.

Why buyers say it

Email is the easiest way to end a call without saying no. The buyer is busy and has heard sales calls before. A quote by email lets them look at one number and decide alone, with no one asking about coverage.

How reps lose the deal on it

  1. They say "sure, what is your email?" within seconds. The quote lands in an inbox and gets compared on price alone.
  2. They quote before asking what the buyer has now. Without the current coverage, the number means nothing.
  3. They push for a call time and ignore the request. The buyer hears nobody listening and hangs up.

Stronger lines to say

  • “Happy to. A quote without the details is a guess, though. Two quick questions first so the number’s real: what are you paying now, and what’s your deductible?”
  • “Can I look at what your current policy covers? If I find nothing better, I’ll tell you to keep it.”
  • “I’ll email it today. Can I hold ten minutes tomorrow to go over it with you, so it’s not just a number in your inbox?”

Questions reps ask about it

Should I ever just send the quote?

Yes, if the buyer insists after you have asked your questions and offered a short call. Send it fast and clear, with a time to talk. A rep who refuses looks stubborn. A rep who sends without asking looks lazy.

What is a good first question after this objection?

Ask what the buyer pays now and what the policy covers. It is easy to answer, it shows you care about fit, and it gives you a real number to beat or an honest reason to say keep what you have.

What should the emailed quote look like if I have to send it?

Short. The premium, the coverages and deductibles side by side with what they have now, and one line on the gap you found. Put the time you will call in the first sentence. A quote that reads like a comparison gets opened. A PDF with no context gets filed.
